Ninox connivens  

Following some directions from my neighbour David Redhead, I went to Schuster Park, Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast, and had fantastic views of a pair of Barking Owls.

These are rare owls in South East Queensland and a privilege to see.

The wide-eyed look on their faces as they looked down on me confirmed the feeling was mutual ;)
